Global Poverty Research Group

About GPRG

The Global Poverty Research Group (GPRG) was set up in August 2002 as a response to the perceived need for a more multi-disciplinary approach to the problems faced by developing countries.

The Research Group has brought together a range of researchers diverse both in their disciplinary backgrounds and their range of expertise across countries.

The objective of the Group is to use this expertise to carry out a multi-disciplinary programme of work which will investigate poverty, inequality, and the quality of life.

The group provides a framework for collaboration between:

the Centre for the Study of African Economies (CSAE) at Oxford University, and

the Institute for Development Policy and Management (IDPM) and the DFID funded Chronic Poverty Research Centre (CPRC) at Manchester University.
